Using Jabber?

hi@
At work we have a secure chat group (server?) that uses jabber. The programs that all other people use are completely inaccessible, and I am trying to get Miranda to work, and am having a bear of a time! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I think it works on the IM Plus app if you have an iDevice.

Why not trying Accessibility Anywhere from Serotek?
I think you can solve your problem.
Check it at:

What will this do that Miranda/Jaws cannot?

Also, my main problem is with loggin in, not necessarily the accessibility of it.

What variant of Miranda are you using? Have you given Miranda NG a shot? If you're fed up with Miranda, how about instantbird? Or perhaps you might be able to find an old copy of Exodus, which I used many years ago when I first started playing with Jabber. I rarely have seen a Jabber server Miranda can't handle, so this is something of a surprise.

I am starting to think that the server itself is so closed off as to not allow third party clients access... either that or I hate a minor setting wrong. Either way, we've thrown in the towel... everyone says it is beeter that I don't have it.

Hi,

Since Thursday or so of last week Miranda latest version doesn't connect to FB Chat via Jabber. It tries to connect then stops after a certain time. This is even if I create a whole new provile from scratch.

But Instantbird on Windows, Adium on theMac and Pidgin in Linux work with FB Chat just fine. Miranda type such as Miraspeak doesn't matter at this point. Even when I've tried Miranda NG no difference.

Update:

I've gotten Facebook chat to work again in miranda.

Go to http://addons.miranda-im.org/details.php?action=viewfile&id=4406

Get the addon, and delete the Jabber Account in Miranda.

Add a new account called Facebook.

Use your Facebook e-mail address you used to sign in and the password.

The only thing I can't get to work now is how to change the Facebook Id, a set of numbers associated with your account.

Hi everyone,

Here's another plugin that people using Miranda might find useful. https://code.google.com/p/mirotr/

Download the zip file, not x64 zip file. When using this plugin, and you start a new OTR conversation from the context menu, use a verified fingerprint. None of the other options seem to work.

Hi everyone,

I've gotten Jabber to work once again with FB Chat.

I'd advise you keep the Facebook plugin installed but disabled.

In your account settings for Jabber, have Jabber use TLS, port 5222.

When you set the tls option, use your jaws cursor to go to apply left click and then left click on ok.

It should work for you after about 30 seconds or so.

Here're 2 separate threads for this exact issue from the Miranda Im forums. This is where I got the tls change that works on my system.

The TLS change that I spoke of last month is very unstable in Miranda 0.10.18. So if it is possible stay with 0.10.17 until this is fixed.

I'll explain,

In 0.10.17 you set the option to use TLS for FB Chat in Jabber and it sticks. In 0.10.18 you try and it doesn't always stick.

Update:

I've gotten Miranda NG latest stable version to work once again with Jabber.
What you need to do is:

Install Miranda NG using custom settings.

Install only ClistBlind, MSN Jabber, etc depending on what chat protocols you
use.

Install only Scriver not SRMM.

Move over your Miranda profile to Miranda NG under:
usersusernameappdataroming

You can install MirOTR from the plugins list.
You can install NoHistory from the plugins list. Unsure how to configure it.
You can configure MirOTR.
